So, here we are, the best part of two months since the last update post on "A Sideline In Vengeance" - and the script is complete! It clocks in at 100 pages (ooh, what a lovely round number).
These last few weeks I have been going back and forth, skimming around the script tweaking specific scenes or characters, or elements of the plotting and overall story, as well as going through it from the first to last page seeking out little changes and improvements to make...

It's been quite a journey, but it's been a highly rewarding creative endeavour. It's strange to think back to January when the script was going through its first draft - where the scenes were being birthed onto the page, so-to-speak - and how that, since then, the script has gone through so many changes to mould it into a form where I can step away from it and present it as complete.
Over these months of writing, I have attacked "A Sideline In Vengeance" from every conceivable angle to make it the best it can be. The story makes sense, the plot is exciting - full of dark and twisted intrigue - the characters have their own voices, their own complete arcs, and all work as the 'stars' of their own movies. There is subtext, there is a rich seam of comment on current issues, and
it packs an emotional punch seeking to bring out the best and the worst
in the characters depicted within. The writing is sharp and to-the-point, the dark elements are mixed with humour throughout (even in the darkest of times people make jokes or find something to laugh about), the pacing is on-point and refuses to ever dawdle (it really shifts, man), expectations are subverted while also supplying the goods one would expect of a conspiracy thriller.
Suffice it to say, I'm well chuffed with it.
Now it's all about getting it out there - quite a job in itself!
