It takes a whole village to make a film, so to speak, so here's a few of those involved in bringing our film Ms Green & Other Lovely Beasts to life.
"From the moment I read Ms Green, I knew I wanted to bring Nick’s vision to life. The script’s blend of dark subject matter with a distinctive quirkiness and humour is something only Nick could achieve, and it immediately resonated with me. I had a clear sense of how Elnora should be portrayed and how I wanted audiences to connect with her. This project was made possible by an exceptional cast and crew, whose talent and dedication helped bring my vision, alongside Nick’s and Ali’s, to the screen. It was truly a collaborative effort, and I am immensely proud of what the team has accomplished."
Aaron brings a wealth of high-end commercial experience, having crafted cinematic campaigns for global brands including Toyota and EA Sports. Will, meanwhile, is best known for his work behind the camera on the YouTube phenomenon Beta Squad, where his dynamic, energetic style has helped shape content viewed by millions. Together, their contrasting backgrounds fused to create a bold visual language that feels both polished and playfully unpredictable.
Olivia is an art director working across theatre and film, specialising in set and costume design. She crafts immersive visual worlds where environment and wardrobe intertwine to shape mood, character and unspoken narrative. Drawn to stories with a subtle edge, her work foregrounds atmosphere, texture and telling detail, creating spaces that feel lived-in yet quietly unsettling.
A long-time collaborator with emerging filmmakers, Olivia previously worked with Oakhill Productions on the award-winning short For Want of a Nail, for which she received a Best Set Design nomination at the Changing Face International Film Festival. Her additional screen credits include Production Designer on Poised and Set Dresser on Finding Fatimah, reflecting a versatile practice that balances imaginative concepts with practical craft.

Mike Shackleton co-founded Echo Sync with Sven Mattes, and their field-tested audio expertise delivers exceptional sound that elevates every story.
Shout out to our 1st Assistant Camera Claudiu and our Gaffer Omar, whose razor-sharp focus, beautifully crafted light, and total professionalism throughout the production kept us moving.
Kathy was our on-location set dresser, so she played a big part in why the world inhabited by our characters looks so good. Her background spans theatre and major productions, with skills in supervising, buying, making and wardrobe assisting. She honed her craft on the West End hit Kinky Boots, before touring the musical and mastering the fast-paced world of running wardrobe. On Ms Green & Other Lovely Beasts, Kathy brought that precision and storytelling eye to the screen as our Set Dresser, shaping the world around the characters and elevating every frame with subtle, intentional detail.
With over a decade behind the camera, our on-set photographer Davie has a rare ability to completely melt into the background, which meant he captured all the real moments: the focus before takes, the chaos between setups, and the little performances that happen when nobody realises they’re being watched. Nothing ever felt staged or interrupted, he just quietly documented the life of the set as it unfolded, and the images genuinely feel like the film lives inside them. He preserved the soul of the shoot, not just the scenes.
You never know just how important Production Runners are until you don't have one to hand - but fortunately the production of Ms Green & Other Lovely Beasts was blessed to have Ellie on-board! With a background as a Television Production graduate, sets are second nature to Ellie. Multi-skilled across departments and with a particular love for Camera Operating, she brought calm capability wherever she was needed. Ellie joined us as a last-minute Runner and jumped in without missing a beat, tackling everything thrown her way: from supporting across departments to the vital post-shoot drink pour… and even puppeteering a cat arm!
Charlie joined us for work experience from a local college, keen to see how a real set runs. It can be an intimidating world to set foot in with so many people doing so many things and using so much jargon, but it didn’t take long before Charlie caught on to the on-set banter and slotted right in. By the end of day one, it genuinely felt like he’d always been part of the team.
He was a natural fit with the camera department, picking things up quickly and learning on the job with real focus and enthusiasm. Since then, he’s gone on to university to study Media Production, specialising in photography and graphic design, and building further on his filming and editing skills. Hard-working, quick to learn and a proper team player.
Returning for his third film with Oakhill Productions, Mike once again helped shape the movie before a single frame was shot. His boards didn’t just map coverage, they defined rhythm, perspective and tone, giving the production a clear visual language from the outset and saving us countless hours on set.
A freelance media artist based just outside London, Mike’s career spans storyboarding, illustration, location design, VR and conceptual art, with clients ranging from Cartoon Network to Ernst & Young. He originally began as a cartoonist before moving into airbrush illustration across advertising, publishing and animation, later creating visuals and concepts for music projects including Grace Jones, Queen and Pink Floyd. Decades in, his instinct for visual storytelling remains razor sharp — the kind of artist who quietly solves problems before they ever reach the camera.
One of the most important requirements on a film shoot, especially on a small budget production, is to feed the crew! You never know just how welcome a hot meal is at just the right time - perhaps you're outside in the middle of a freezing winter night, starting to flag a bit, but then the scent of a delicious meal drifts under your nose. Also, in the hustle and bustle of a film production, it can be easy to get wrapped-up in what you're doing and forget to eat or drink - so it takes a special kind of soul like Penny and Sheila to remind us all to take a break and top up our fuel reserves.
Our Director’s incredible sister Pennie Barnes and our Producer’s wonderful mum Sheila Irene Causon once again joined forces to cater for us and, once again, they completely outdid themselves. Over three packed days, they kept an average of 25 cast and crew beautifully fed, constantly topped up, and genuinely cared for. Early call? There was breakfast. Mid-afternoon slump? Magically solved. End of day wrap? Still smiling, still serving. And while they may be two of our more elusive, camera-shy team members (you’ll rarely catch them in a behind-the-scenes snap!), their impact is impossible to miss.
The food was incredible, but more than that, it was the warmth, the encouragement, the extra hugs when energy dipped, and the steady presence that kept morale high. Independent filmmaking runs on passion, graft and good people. Penny and Sheila bring all three: quietly, generously, and without ever asking for the spotlight.
Having Stephen Lord shape the sound of Ms Green & Other Lovely Beasts was a huge asset to the film. With over 25 years in the industry, including work on Harry Potter and RuneScape, and orchestral sessions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, Stephen brought world-class experience to our short. Reviewers have praised the use of music and distortion as “incredibly creative,” highlighting the bold sonic identity he crafted. He also joined us in the studio to oversee ADR for Dizga and Elnora, working alongside Clark Alexander and Laura Koster to fine-tune the final mix. A true storyteller through sound and a key force behind the atmosphere of the film.
