Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts: Character Introduction #3...

Mark Keegan performs the role of Ed Gein, aka The Butcher of Plainfield, in Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts (watch the trailer HERE). In the film, Gein plays the role of Elnora's first discovery in the dark world of serial killer history during her time as a lonely teenager, and this ghoulish figure of true crime mythology became her first obsession.

Akin to an imaginary friend, brought to life within the fantasy world inside her mind, Ed is a mixture of confidant and celebrity icon. He is an expression of the deepest and darkest thoughts, fears, and desires that lurk in the shadows of Elnora's mind. Like the bad influence of an addiction, which seized hold of Elnora's tumultuous psyche in her formative years, Ed is the finger pressing down on the bad side of the scale.

Mark Keegan has  been an actor since the age of 10, but left it until 53 to turn professional! TV credits include The Windsors (Ch4/ Netflix); theatre credits include a 2-year run as Virgil in 'Past Tents' (which won the Best Comedy 2024 award by London Pub Theatres Guild) and as Diamond Dave/ Uncle Kev in Instanbul, which had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe; as well as appearing in numerous films across the past 10 years.

Elnora Green, performed by Lauren Koster, is the main character in Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts (watch the trailer HERE), and she is a misfit’s misfit, suspended between childlike wonder and sharp cynicism. Gentle yet feral, she watches the world with the wary curiosity of a young wolf. A romantic and visual artist, she creates post-mortem pet portraits and offers pre-mortem pet therapy—work that blurs care, ritual, and control.

Beneath her delicate exterior, Elnora is drawn to the darker edges of the human psyche, fascinated by the impulses people hide and the secrets they carry. Shaped by loss, neglect, and isolation, she navigates life from the margins, searching for connection while quietly exploring the fragile, often unsettling balance between love and power.

Lauren Koster is an English, Irish and Burmese actor and writer. Her credits include The Crown (season 6) and Camp Siegfried at The Old Vic, marking her West End debut. She also stars in Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts, citing her collaboration with a delightfully dirty-minded pug puppet as a career highlight.

FWOAN Actor's New Web Series...

Clark Alexander, who played Marty in "For Want Of A Nail", has a new web series coming out soon on YouTube called "Vince and Percy: #YODO". It's a send-up of vloggers and vlogging culture. FWOAN - Interview with actor Clark Alexander...

Following on from interviews with Thomasin Lockwood (Mindi) and Lisa Opara (Sally), we've now got an interview with our lead actor Clark Alexander, who plays Marty in For Want Of A Nail.

What appeals to you about the character of Marty?
I really like the challenge of being able to play a character with OCD. I like how much Marty jokes and makes light of his OCD, yet the film has some dark and heavy themes so it's nice to find the light within that.

What has your most challenging role been so far?

Marty looks to be my most challenging role thus far, which is really exciting. But before this, it would have to be Trigorin in The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.

FWOAN - Interview with actress Lisa Opara...

Following on from yesterday's interview with Thomasin Lockwood (Mindi), you can now check out an interview with Lisa Opara - who plays Marty's girlfriend Sally in For Want Of A Nail.

What appeals to you about the character of Sally?

I felt a lot of empathy for Sally. She clearly has a huge heart and genuinely loves Marty but she's just had enough. She seems like a very strong character so I'm excited to explore her strength, but even more excited to explore her vulnerability. The internal war between holding on for the sake of love, and letting go for the sake of, well almost for the sake of her sanity is something that drew me to her.

FWOAN - Interview with actress Thomasin Lockwood...

A new interview with Thomasin Lockwood - who plays Marty's twin sister Mindi in the film - has just gone live.

What appeals to you about the character of Mindy?

I like that she's tough on the outside, but inside is hurting deeply. She's someone who has endured a lot in life and has always had to be the 'strong' one. I like that I get to portray someone so complex.
