Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts: Character Introduction 4B...

A puppet pug! What more could you want? In the short film Ms Green and Other Lovely Beasts (watch the trailer HERE), the inner workings of Elnora Green's curious mind have produced this version of Dizga II, her faithful and dirty-minded companion.

 

The puppet version of Dziga II was created from scratch by the amazing Olivia Venables to match the character's live action counterpart Dolly, and puppeteered by Alfie Walton (who gamely rose to the task after being drafted-in to the role at the last minute). Currently studying Film and Media at the BRIT School, Alfie has already worked with Apple TV and, most recently, Disney. Now the host and producer of Alfie’s Manic Mondays, Alfie’s fast mouth, sharp instincts and undeniable charm suggest one thing: the gift of the gab is alive and well.

 

The final piece of the puzzle in bringing Dziga II to life was his voice, performed by Clark Alexander, the lead actor in Oakhill Productions' award-winning short film For Want Of A Nail (watch the film HERE). A professional actor with a serious Shakespeare habit, Clark has spent years performing and touring classic works, most recently completing an international tour of Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet.

FWOAN Actor's New Web Series...

Clark Alexander, who played Marty in "For Want Of A Nail", has a new web series coming out soon on YouTube called "Vince and Percy: #YODO". It's a send-up of vloggers and vlogging culture. I've personally had an early looksee at one of the episodes and it had me cracking up. Check out the trailer below:

FWOAN - Interview with actor Clark Alexander...

Following on from interviews with Thomasin Lockwood (Mindi) and Lisa Opara (Sally), we've now got an interview with our lead actor Clark Alexander, who plays Marty in For Want Of A Nail.

What appeals to you about the character of Marty?
I really like the challenge of being able to play a character with OCD. I like how much Marty jokes and makes light of his OCD, yet the film has some dark and heavy themes so it's nice to find the light within that.

What has your most challenging role been so far?

Marty looks to be my most challenging role thus far, which is really exciting. But before this, it would have to be Trigorin in The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.

FWOAN's first review!

For Want Of A Nail has only just entered the public sphere, but already we've got two film festival confirmations and now we've got our first review, courtesy of The Independent Critic - check out the review HERE.

In his review Richard Propes describes FWOAN as "an intelligent, respectful film that manages to tell its truth while still entertaining along the way" and gives the film 3.5 out of 4 stars.

I'm properly chuffed with how the film has turned out and I can't wait to see it getting out there into the world for people to see. It has been a big job getting here, but everyone involved in the project has done an excellent job and it's heartening to see such commitment to telling this story about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

For Want Of A Nail

I've alluded to a project called "For Want Of A Nail" for a while now on this blog, and finally I can say a bit more about it.

A year-and-a-bit ago I wrote a short screenplay (adapted from my short story), entered a competition, got short-listed, and ultimately my script was picked to be the one that was to be made into a short film by Oakhill Productions (one of their past projects is the award-winning short film All's Well, which most recently won the audience choice award at the Veteran's Film Festival for its portrayal of PTSD)...
